The angler that caught this fish had been waiting two years to visit us with all the travel restrictions so it shows you every cloud has a silver lining as our lake Oakwood Fishery’s is now boasting both commons and mirrors over 60lb for the 2022 season!!! Highlighting us as one of the Premier Small water Specimen Lakes in France.

A bit of an update for 2021 as we are getting lots of emails asking whats going on this year.

The answer is we do not know what is going to happen any more than you do with the Covid!!! and being able to travel to France but if travel is allowed we will be open and are mostly fully booked for this year. We do have a few weeks available so get in touch if you want to provisionally save one.

Over the week he also had four other fish over 40lbs ranging from 44-49lbs and lost count of the number of 30’s he caught it was such a hectic week.

It has been a very difficult year for all of us and if you are not wanting to travel this year and have a week booked that is not a problem!! we will still defer your week until the following year 2021 but if you could please contact us as soon as possible if this is the case.

We will of course still be social distancing and with this in mind the evening meal will not be available this year. We can still do you a breakfast package if needed and boilies are still available rolled on site but do not hesitate to get in touch if you have any questions.

The Fish was tempted from swim 4 after just 2 hours fishing by Ashley Heaton and its the first time to the bank all season after it had evaded capture it was great to see it in such amazing condition.

We were waiting for our fish 40lb plus common this year as we had 6 commons pushing 40lb last season.

With an intensive winter feeding program and planned lake management the month of May has seen 3 different commons of over 45lb caught.

We can now boast 12 different forty pound plus carp and two fifties to our present lake record of 53lb 10oz.

So this season with our intense winter feeding program of our own lake special boilies that offer a complete diet for our carp we hoped there would be a new common carp lake record at Oakwood in 2019.

We didn’t have to wait long i’m delighted to say as Henry one of our regulars smashed the Common Carp Record with this 47lb 5 oz monster. What a stunner!! congratulations to him!

He also backed his common carp record up with a 44lb 3oz scale perfect mirror what a brace of fish for him, this is what dreams are made from and why people travel to France every year for there carp fishing.

This fish will be over 50lbs come the 2020 season as it has put on close to 13lbs since its last capture 16 months ago.

This puts Oakwood Fisheries seriously on the map of small water carp fishing as we will be able to boast the whole set of 50lb plus carp soon.

A Stunning Mirror, Beautiful Leather and that very exclusive club of having a 50lb plus common carp swimming around in our lake.
