Telling Tales 2011, Korda's second yearbook. Its 17 chapters chart the fishing year, as experienced by the lads who work at Korda. Every twist and turn, every smouldering dawn and steaming kettle on the way to final success is documented, in full colour. The book features headline contributions from Danny Fairbrass, Ali Hamidi, Damian Clarke, Adam Penning, Darrell Peck and Tom Dove, along with a few lads who usually stay clear of the limelight! The chapters, cover a real range of fishing stretching from the capture of one of the very biggest carp in the world, right through to UK day-ticket fishing and the secret world of the under-the-radar club water! As with the last offering, these stories are richly illustrated with stunning images and full-page plates. Although it has been produced a classy, coffee-table publication, Telling Tales also features plenty of the tips and tactics that you'd expect from Korda, subtly interwoven into the chapters.
The post Telling Tales: 2011 a Year in Carp Fishing (Telling Tales Series) first appeared on Oakwood Fisheries.

' "Went off with it? What do you mean, Tigger?" Hoppy sounded incredulous. And so the whole story had to be told. The hooking of Pickle Barrel, the long, stern battle in the darkness, his peril in the weeds, and finally, the towing of the raft and the loss of the rod.'

"BB" is without doubt, one of the finest writers and illustrators of angling literature. His children's book The Little Grey Men won the 1942 Carnegie Medal in Literature and was adapted for television in 1975. The Whopper (first published in 1967), being a book about fishing and much shorter, is less well known but just as captivating. In it he tells the story of Tigger Thomas and Hoppy Doffton and the extraordinary lengths they go to in their quest to capture an enormous carp called Pickle Barrel. It is a joy to read for young anglers and will remind older ones of the sheer enjoyment of youthful fishing escapades and just how difficult it is to catch a very large carp.
The post The Whopper 2011 first appeared on Oakwood Fisheries.
